Guy Fawkes, conspirateur, tente de faire exploser la Chambre des lords du Parlement anglais en 1604, et planifie d'assassiner le roi Jacques 1er d'Angleterre, afin de remettre un catholique sur le trône. Les autorités de Westminster Palace mirent la main sur Fawkes alors qu'il gardait les explosifs.
